The Cité du Théâtre is the receptacle of the new Batignoles district, pivot of the transformation of the city of Paris, whose centrality is shifting.

The project begins with a large unifying public square, covered with a shade that transfigures the light striking the materials by filtering. This square contributes to the site’s new breathing through its connection with the Thiers embankment, through large faults between the blocks of rooms and the central atrium, which crosses it between town and embankment. The project begins with a large unifying public square, covered with a shade that transfigures the light striking the materials by filtering. The objective is to organize the National Superior Center of Dramatic Arts as a living district developing around an interior street. Light is controlled throughout the building by wavy slats that form a light modulating curtain, expanding or retracting depending on usage and orientation.
